SUMMARY:[RE] IMAGINING the future #1: Facing the Mess – What do we feel and fear?
DESCRIPTION:3 sessions to [RE] Imagine a Possible Future \nDo you ever feel paralyzed by the state of the world?\nMaybe you’ve thought: “Why bother? Nothing I do will change anything.” Or: “I’m just one person\, what difference can I make?”. \nWhat if these feelings aren’t signs of defeat\, but invitations to connect\, to face fear\, and to reimagine? \nDuring three sessions a space is created where together we’ll move through grief\, gratitude\, and imagination. This will be done different exercises that will hopefully leave you more positioned\, empowered as well as supported. \nThe sessions will roughly explore: \n17-19h. Fr. 16 Oct: Facing the Mess – What do we feel and fear?  \nThis session will be guided by Camille Sapara Barton\, the author of Tending Grief (2024). They have over 15 years of experience in creative facilitation\, blending embodiment practices with socially engaged topics\, to teach people to reduce stress while navigating change.  \nThe first session begins by confronting the stark realities of our time: the uncertainty surrounding basic needs\, the fragility of our civilization\, and the bewildering nature of the present moment. While these fears are often avoided because they feel too depressing\, we instead invite you to name and share them. \nAcknowledging this mess is crucial to discovering how it can also empower us. In doing so\, it might open unexpected space for surprising resilience\, new allies\, and unforeseen forces that help us take action together. \n17-19 h.Tue. 20 Oct: Positionality & Seeing with New Eyes – What stories shape us\, and where do we stand?  \nDuring this session we will explore different stories we have inherited and that shape our current reality. How do we relate\, position and feel towards these stories? How do they shape our perspective?  \nAlso we will explore what connected consciousness can feel like and moving from an individual to a collective body.  \n18-20h. Fri. 30 Oct: Going Forth – What new story can we create and how do we act?  \nHow many aspects of our present reality started out as someone’s dream? \nIn this last session we will start building our own story by naming what we want. What is it we hope for and what role would we like to play in it? By sharing our dreams and visions for the future we collectively create a direction to move through life.  \nIf we know what we want\, we can start defining how we want to reach this.  \nWe’ll close with a potluck to celebrate our shared journey on Friday the 30th. \nHopefully\, by moving through these sessions collectively we will be able to pass on our experience. Not just addressing global issues and possible solutions\, but also strengthen our commitment and capacity to act.  \nA big source of inspiration is the work of Joanna Macy on Active Hope as well as the work of Camille Sapara Barton. \n  \nFor: 18–35-year-olds \nLanguage: English \nCommitment: Drop in for one\, or join all three (recommended) \nPlease fill in the form so we can estimate group size. \nLast note: Come as you are! There is no pre knowledge\, education or anything required except from mutual respect and the willingness to be open and curious. \nLocation: Huis van Actief Burgerschap\,  Neude 11\, 3512 AE Utrecht\nFor more info contact Lienke Roos: lienke.roos@gmail.com
