3 sessions to [RE] Imagine a Possible Future

Do you ever feel paralyzed by the state of the world?
Maybe you’ve thought: “Why bother? Nothing I do will change anything.” Or: “I’m just one person, what difference can I make?”.

What if these feelings aren’t signs of defeat, but invitations to connect, to face fear, and to reimagine?

During three sessions a space is created where together we’ll move through grief, gratitude, and imagination. This will be done different exercises that will hopefully leave you more positioned, empowered as well as supported.

The sessions will roughly explore:

17-19h. Fr. 16 Oct: Facing the MessWhat do we feel and fear?

This session will be guided by Camille Sapara Barton, the author of Tending Grief (2024). They have over 15 years of experience in creative facilitation, blending embodiment practices with socially engaged topics, to teach people to reduce stress while navigating change.

The first session begins by confronting the stark realities of our time: the uncertainty surrounding basic needs, the fragility of our civilization, and the bewildering nature of the present moment. While these fears are often avoided because they feel too depressing, we instead invite you to name and share them.

Acknowledging this mess is crucial to discovering how it can also empower us. In doing so, it might open unexpected space for surprising resilience, new allies, and unforeseen forces that help us take action together.

17-19 h.Tue. 20 Oct: Positionality & Seeing with New EyesWhat stories shape us, and where do we stand?

During this session we will explore different stories we have inherited and that shape our current reality. How do we relate, position and feel towards these stories? How do they shape our perspective?

Also we will explore what connected consciousness can feel like and moving from an individual to a collective body.

18-20h. Fri. 30 Oct: Going ForthWhat new story can we create and how do we act?

How many aspects of our present reality started out as someone’s dream?

In this last session we will start building our own story by naming what we want. What is it we hope for and what role would we like to play in it? By sharing our dreams and visions for the future we collectively create a direction to move through life.

If we know what we want, we can start defining how we want to reach this.

We’ll close with a potluck to celebrate our shared journey on Friday the 30th.

Hopefully, by moving through these sessions collectively we will be able to pass on our experience. Not just addressing global issues and possible solutions, but also strengthen our commitment and capacity to act.

A big source of inspiration is the work of Joanna Macy on Active Hope as well as the work of Camille Sapara Barton.
